    Installation

    Watch installation video:

Super easy – no special tools required. You’ll need just a hex key or wrench.

    Step-by-step guide:

    1. Remove your current axle from the bike’s rear hub
    2. Compare thread pitch and total length with the new adapter
      • The total length should be within ±2 mm of your original axle
      • Some of our adapters include removable spacers – simply add or remove them to match the correct length
      • Make sure the thread type is identical
    3. Insert the new adapter into the hub
    4. Tighten by hand first, then secure it using a Allen key
      1. How Tight Should It Be?
        • If you have a torque wrench, we recommend tightening to 10–12 Nm (Newton-meters) – this is standard for most thru axles.
        • What if you don’t have a torque wrench? No problem. Here’s what 10–12 Nm feels like:
          • First, tighten by hand until the axle is snug and fully seated.
          • Then, with a standard 6 mm Allen key, apply firm pressure – like you’re turning a doorknob firmly, but not straining or using your full body weight.
          • It should feel secure, but not overly tight.
          • Tip: It’s always better to go slightly under-tightened than overtightened, especially on alloy or carbon frames.
      2. Attach your trailer hitch to the adapter’s end

      Can I install it myself?

      • Yes! It’s super simple. You only need a hex key or wrench.

      Will it fit my trailer?

      • Yes – it fits all bike trailers that mount on the rear hub (2-wheel trailers, not single-wheel cargo).

      Does it come with spacers?

      • Some – many variants come with removable spacers to adjust length.

      What is a thru axle?

      • It’s a solid axle that goes through your frame and wheel hub – common on modern MTBs, e-bikes and gravel bikes.

How do I measure my thru axle?

      • Remove the axle and check for printed specs. You’ll see something like “M12x1.5 – 172 mm”. Or use our guide.

Can I use it with a quick release bike?

      • No – this is only for thru axle bikes. For quick release, check our 5 mm adapter.

      What’s the thread pitch?

      • It depends on your bike. Common are M12x1.0, M12x1.5 or M12x1.75 – let us help you check.

Is it safe for children/pets in the trailer?

      • Absolutely. All our adapters are tested and safe for towing kids and dogs.

Do I need a torque wrench?

      • Not necessary – hand-tight and secure with a wrench is usually enough. Check manufacturer guidelines for torque specs.

Can I use this on multiple bikes?

      • Only if they have the exact same axle specs. Otherwise, you need one per bike.

Does this work on electric bikes?

      • Yes – most e-bikes use thru axles. Just check the specs.
