One of Norway’s largest newspapers (Dagbladet) and the “Ski association” tested the classic pulk from Fjellpulken against the our Nordic Cab Explorer. Here is the verdict.
What is a Pulk?
A pulk is a low-slung sled from Nordic origins, traditionally it was crafted from wood and natural materials.
Primarily designed for carrying supplies or transporting individuals, pulks are versatile. In Norway, parents use them to pull kids on skiing trips. Other configurations include sleighs akin to pulks.
It’s also used in sports or transport, towed by a dog, skier, or reindeer in Sápmi.
The Norwegian word “pulk” has its origins in the Sami languages, specifically derived from “puhlke.”
The Sami people are indigenous to Norway. They have a distinct culture, language (the Sami languages), and traditional lifestyle rooted in reindeer herding, fishing, hunting, and gathering. Sami communities have a rich heritage, with deep connections to their lands and a unique cultural identity that encompasses art, music, storytelling, and traditional crafts.1
