We’ve just tested pizza on a campfire. We thought it would be difficult, but it turned out to be super easy!
According to the kids, “it was seriously good”!! My husband, who is extremely picky about food and always speaks his mind about dishes, said, “this could be the best pizza in the world if we spice it up a bit” (which we unfortunately forgot to bring this time). I can confidently say this is some of the best food I’ve ever tasted; the crust had a delicious crispy bottom with a flavor I can’t quite describe. And food always tastes so much better outdoors 😉
Pizza dough:
- 12 dl wheat flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 4 dl water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 dl oil for frying
First mix all the dry ingredients together, then add the water. Knead the dough for 5 minutes. Put the dough in a bag or container, and pack it in your backpack.
Filling:
This time we had grated cheese, 1 jar of pizza sauce, 1 grilled chicken that I cut into small pieces, corn, and pineapple chunks.
When we arrived, we divided the dough and flattened it out. We got three medium-sized pizzas, which was enough for two adults and three children.
We cooked one dough at a time, using plenty of oil and flipping it when it was brown and slightly crispy. Once both sides were cooked, we added the toppings, covered it, and let it sit until the cheese was melted.
The result was “seriously good pizza” 😉
