“Out and about, no worries!” The threshold for getting out on trips has become even lower. We’ve found the perfect solution for both adults and children,” says Merete Nilssen, the manager of Utsikten Kindergarten in Ottestad, just outside Hamar Norway. She is referring to the four trolleys from Nordic Cab that the kindergarten has acquired, and which became everyone’s favorite on the first day.
“Since the trolleys arrived at the turn of the year, they’ve been in constant use by both the toddlers’ and older children’s groups. We can’t manage without them now,” she smiles.
For Children and Equipment Transport
“We have two trolleys for equipment and two for the younger children who can’t walk on their own yet. They perfectly meet our needs,” explains Merete.
The transport trolleys can be either pushed or pulled using a harness.
“We prefer using harnesses because then you have both hands free to assist the children,” she says enthusiastically.
“Everyone who works in a kindergarten knows how much we need to carry with us—backpacks, food, and equipment. It’s heavy to carry, and also impractical when you need to bend down and help the children at the same time. We used to use backpacks and didn’t find them optimal. With these trolleys, we’ve found a much better solution,” says the kindergarten manager.
“If a little one gets tired, they can sit in the trolley and rest for a bit. That wouldn’t have been possible with backpacks,” she points out.

Utsikten Kindergarten has a great location with the forest as its nearest neighbor, full of hiking trails and exciting destinations. In addition, Lake Mjøsa is very close, and Hamar city is just a short bus ride away.
“No matter where we’re going, it’s handy to bring the trolley so we have everything we need. This summer, we took the pull trolleys on a trip to Tangen Zoo. We had to bring a lot with us, so we loaded everything into the trolleys—no stress, just very practical,” she shares.
Safe and Secure
One of the things Merete and her colleagues appreciate is that the trolleys have large wheels and are very stable.
“Children’s safety is our top priority, and it’s also important for me as a manager to ensure that the staff are exposed to as little physical strain as possible. That’s why it helps that the trolleys are designed so the children can climb in on their own. Additionally, they are relatively light, yet solid and stable, so they don’t tip over,” explains Merete.
A Permanent Spot
In the spring, one of the trolleys found a permanent user for a period. One of the children had broken their leg and couldn’t walk far with crutches.
“He was happy to avoid sitting in a baby carriage, I can tell you that. We’ve also stopped using our old twin strollers. They’ve become too heavy and inflexible. Now it’s only Nordic Cab that matters,” she concludes.
Utsikten Kindergarten
Our kindergarten is located in the Åkersvika nature reserve in Ottestad, just outside Hamar Norway.
We have about 80 children and 32 staff members, spread across four departments.
