Winter is approaching, and many families are preparing for cabin trips and ski outings in the beautiful winter weather. Whether you’re planning a trip on local ski trails or a longer mountain excursion, it’s important to keep the children warm and comfortable throughout the journey. For this, a good thermal bag and a solid base in the sled are essential.
There are several important factors to consider, but the most crucial is good and proper insulation. Proper insulation helps to trap body heat and prevent cold from seeping in. This is especially important for children, who have a harder time regulating their body temperature than adults.
There are several options for keeping children warm while they are in the sled, but we recommend a good thermal bag and a wool pad. The Nordic Cab sled itself has a canopy that keeps wind and snow out, so with a warm and cozy bag and a good base, you can go on trips in almost any weather!
We have developed a special wool pad in both single and double versions, which is adapted to the harnesses in the sled and provides good insulation, keeping the child warm. Wool is naturally insulating and helps to trap body heat, making it an excellent choice for the sled. Additionally, wool is naturally moisture-wicking, helping to prevent moisture from affecting the child’s comfort.
It’s not just about the insulation – the sled itself is also important. For example, the Nordic Cab sled is designed so that the children are raised off the snow and are sheltered from the elements inside their ‘tent.’ This not only helps keep them warmer but also makes the ride more fun and comfortable for the child. The seat in the Nordic Cab sled can be adjusted from an upright sitting position to a lying down position. This allows the children to watch the surroundings during the ride, or be laid down for the most comfortable sleeping position. As an optional extra, there is a split backrest available for those with children of different ages. With a split backrest, one child can sit upright and observe, while the other can lie down in a sleeping position.
With the right equipment, children can enjoy the ski trip just like adults without us having to worry about the cold.
